[original] How we solve user problems at Warp

Prioritization

  1. We are continuously prioritizing (and re-prioritizing) – we don’t do any kind of quarterly cycles anymore.
  2. Everyone can always see the latest priorities on our Continuous Planning Notion [private].

Product thinking

  1. Make sure we are solving a clear problem and that we are all aligned on it.
  2. Enumerate concrete use cases / user-stories / workflows that we are solving. If you can’t name concrete use cases, the feature is too vague.
  3. Any product we ship needs to start with the entrypoint for how a user is going to discover it, and solve an entire workflow. We don’t just add capabilities and expect users to discover how to take advantage of them.
  4. We bias towards shipping incrementally and getting feedback as quickly as possible, rather than building for perfection, especially if there’s a question of demand for a feature.

Metrics

Northstar metrics

  1. WAU
  2. Self-serve revenue

Product-metrics that ladder up most closely to our Northstar metrics

  1. Activation rate → WAUs
  2. User retention → WAUs
  3. AI engagement (AI WAUs + Weekly AI requests) → Self-serve revenue
